Being a parent requires a wide range of skills – patience, teaching, listening, leadership, and setting expectations. It’s a lifelong journey that can be incredibly challenging. So, when two parents sit down with their adult daughter to meet the man who proposed to marry her, they are filled with excitement and nerves, wondering what he’s like.

But here’s the twist in this scenario: the parents and daughter are actually actors on a hidden camera show called “What Would You Do?” Their mission? To see how people around them will react when the parents criticize the young man because of his race.

As someone in a mixed-race marriage, I can tell you that racism is still alive and well in America. I’ve personally experienced it in public encounters across the country, from Seattle to New York City and Florida. People tend to notice mixed-race couples, and some have even approached us to challenge or congratulate our decision to marry. It’s a reality that we can’t ignore.

In this episode of “What Would You Do?”, the couple faces criticism from a much more personal source – the daughter’s racist parents. At first, Madison’s parents are excited to meet their daughter’s fiancé. They decide to meet at a restaurant, but he arrives a bit late. Madison is filled with happiness and excitement, thinking that her parents will love the man she loves. However, when he walks into the restaurant and they see that he’s Asian and not white, their faces drop.

Madison’s parents are furious just because Eric looks different from their daughter. They’re disappointed that Madison accepted a proposal from a non-white man. In the 21st century, we would hope that this kind of behavior no longer exists, but sadly, it does. However, it’s not always as obvious as it appears in this reality show skit.

As the terrible and insensitive remarks from Madison’s parents fill the air, fellow restaurant goers can’t help but overhear. This is all part of the show – people are meant to hear these shocking conversations. The producers want to see if everyday people will stand up to the racist parents and encourage the love between the Asian man and the Caucasian woman. And they do!

In the video, you’ll witness average people, just like yourself, taking a stand in the name of love. They refuse to let these narrow-minded parents destroy the love shared by the young couple. It shouldn’t matter that Eric is Asian and Madison is white – love knows no boundaries.

Now, let me ask you: what do you think about this clip? Would you have spoken up if you overheard this conversation?
