Legendary game show host, Pat Sajak, recently shared his experience of undergoing emergency surgery for a clogged intestine. In a candid interview with “Good Morning America,” Sajak revealed that he had feared the worst before the surgery, but fortunately, he made a full recovery.

Sajak first experienced excruciating pain in November while out for a stroll with his daughter. Within hours, he found himself on the verge of surgery, unable to find relief from the agony. “I was lying on the bed in the fetal position,” he recalled. “They tried different medications, but nothing worked.”

However, everything changed when the doctors administered a specific medication. Suddenly, Sajak felt a sense of relief and experienced a profound moment. “All of a sudden, I wasn’t thinking about the discomfort,” he said. “I suddenly experienced a face coming out of these wonderful hues.”

During this surreal moment, Sajak overheard his wife and daughter speaking in the background. Although they were physically beside him, they seemed miles away. Reflecting on this experience, he humorously remarked, “I guess this must be death.” Little did he know that he was about to make a successful recovery.

Sajak emphasized his concern for his family during that challenging time, believing that they would have to deal with the aftermath if he didn’t make it. However, as fate would have it, his fears were unfounded. Looking back on the ordeal, Sajak lightheartedly revealed, “It turns out I was only stoned.”

The surgery was a resounding success, and doctors found no underlying cause for the intestinal blockage. Sajak expressed his relief, stating, “Since a few weeks ago, I’ve been feeling fantastic.” He has returned to work on “Wheel of Fortune” and is grateful to be back in the studio once again.

During his recovery, Sajak’s long-time co-host, Vanna White, stepped in to host the show. Sajak jokingly shared his concern that she might replace him permanently. “I learned she enjoys hosting,” he laughingly said. “And I’m a little nervous.”

Despite the challenges Sajak faced with his health, he remains upbeat and confident in his role on “Wheel of Fortune.” He declared, “I still have my wits about me. They left that in place, so I’ll keep selling vowels for a very long time.”
