Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak recently shared his harrowing experience with emergency surgery for a clogged intestine. In his first interview since the procedure, Sajak revealed that he had feared the worst just before the surgery. But fortunately, he is alive and well today.

The ordeal began in November when Sajak started experiencing excruciating pain while taking a stroll with his daughter. Within a few hours, he found himself doubled over in agony, on the brink of surgery. Despite trying multiple drugs to manage the discomfort, nothing seemed to work.

However, everything changed after his doctors administered a medication. Suddenly, the pain faded away, and Sajak described a surreal experience of seeing vibrant colors and hearing distant voices. In that moment, he believed he was on the brink of death.

As he lay there, Sajak’s main concern was for his wife and children, imagining the difficult aftermath they would face. Little did he know that he would pull through and his fears would be unfounded. Reflecting on the situation, he humorously quipped, “It turns out I was only stoned.”

Thankfully, the surgery was a success, and doctors found no underlying cause for the blockage, meaning Sajak doesn’t need to make any significant lifestyle changes. He is feeling fantastic and has already returned to the studio to work on new episodes.

During his recovery, Sajak’s long-time co-host Vanna White filled in for him. In the interview, he jokingly expressed his concern that White might enjoy hosting and take over his role. But he reassured fans that he still has his wits about him and intends to keep selling vowels for a long time.

Ryan Seacrest to Take Over as New Wheel of Fortune Host

With Pat Sajak’s retirement announcement from Wheel of Fortune, speculation ran wild about who would step into his shoes. Many wondered if Vanna White would become the new host or if someone entirely new would take on the role. Now, it has been officially revealed that Ryan Seacrest will be the next host of Wheel of Fortune.

In a statement, Seacrest expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to succeed the legendary Pat Sajak, who has been the host since 1983. Seacrest acknowledged Sajak’s immense contributions to the show and his talent for making contestants and audiences feel at ease. He humbly stated, “I’m truly humbled to be following in the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak.”

For four decades, Pat and Vanna have brought joy and laughter into our homes every night. Seacrest expressed excitement about learning from Sajak and continuing the beloved tradition of spinning the wheel. Fans can look forward to seeing Seacrest take on his new role and bring his unique energy to the game show.
