President Biden’s approach to border walls has taken a surprising turn as construction on a security wall around his Delaware vacation home has ramped up. While maintaining a strong stance against border walls on the southern U.S. border, it seems that Biden is investing in a taxpayer-funded fortress for his own residence.

Exclusive photos obtained by Fox News reveal the recent commencement of construction on the wall surrounding Biden’s Rehoboth Beach residence. The bill for this security measure is a staggering $490,324, paid for by taxpayers through a government contract via the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The visuals show the ongoing installation of imposing white fencing and robust gray stone pillars along the side of Biden’s home. At the front of the property, a half-wall of gray stone and an expansive black iron gate proudly stand as part of the construction.

The plans for the wall originated in 2021 when the DHS approved a contract to enhance security at the presidential retreat. However, the cost has skyrocketed to nearly $500,000, representing a $34,000 increase from the original Turnstone Holdings LCC contract price, as reported by Fox News Digital in August. The construction of Biden’s home wall is expected to be completed in September.

President Biden’s pledge during the 2020 presidential campaign to halt all border wall construction is still fresh in people’s minds. He assured the public that “not another foot” would be added if he secured the presidency. He emphasized his commitment to robust border protection and leveraging advanced technology to address challenges, particularly focusing on the ports of entry where illicit activities tend to occur.

However, despite this promise, Biden’s administration faced scrutiny when it quietly authorized the construction of a border wall section in Yuma, Arizona in July 2022, in response to Senator Mark Kelly’s plea to fortify the border.

In an unexpected twist, the administration took legal action against Arizona in December, filing a lawsuit over the state’s use of shipping containers to create a border wall and curb illegal immigration. The lawsuit argued that the state was trespassing on federal lands.

During a recent visit to the border in El Paso, Texas, President Biden strategically avoided sections of the border wall that were either constructed or reinforced by former President Trump. Instead, he opted to visit an older, preexisting part of the wall.

It is interesting to note the contrast between President Biden’s strong stance against border walls on the southern U.S. border and the construction of a taxpayer-funded fortress around his Delaware vacation home. This unforeseen turn of events highlights the complexities of border security and the decisions that leaders must make to protect their own residences.
