The passing of an individual is always a somber occasion, especially when it’s someone we know and admire. Today, we pay tribute to the late Martin Mull, a comedic icon who brought laughter into the lives of so many. Known for his memorable roles in shows like “Roseanne” and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” Martin Mull’s humor will be greatly missed.

An announcement made by his daughter, Maggie Mull, confirmed his passing, revealing that Martin Mull fought bravely against a long illness until his final days. In a heartfelt Instagram post, she expressed her sorrow: “I am heartbroken to share that my father passed away at home on June 27th, after a valiant fight against a long illness.

He was known for excelling at every creative discipline imaginable and also for doing Red Roof Inn commercials. He would find that joke funny. He was never not funny. My dad will be deeply missed by his wife and daughter, by his friends and coworkers, by fellow artists and comedians and musicians, and—the sign of a truly exceptional person—by many, many dogs. I loved him tremendously.”

Martin Mull’s career began to soar in the 1970s when he graced our screens in the soap opera “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman” and the satirical talk show “Fernwood Tonight.” However, it was in the 1990s that his fame reached new heights with his portrayal of Leon Karp, Roseanne’s boss, on the hit sitcom “Roseanne.” Many may also remember him as Principal Kraft from “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” or his role in “Arrested Development,” which earned him an Emmy nomination in 2016.

Melissa Joan Hart, who co-starred with Martin Mull on “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” fondly reminisced about their time together. She paid her respects, saying, “Rest in Peace my friend. The incredible #MartinMull (Principal Kraft) has left us for his eternal rest. I have such fond memories of working with him and being in awe of his huge body of work which before #SabrinaTheTeenageWitch included #Roseanne and #MrMom as the projects I knew him from.” Melissa spoke about a conversation she had with him about acting and how he described taking every job offered in case the train came to an end, an unfortunate reality in the entertainment industry. She also highlighted his talents as a painter, builder, musician, and overall wonderful human being.

Let us take a moment to remember Martin Mull’s incredible contributions to the world of comedy. May his family find solace during this difficult time as we honor his legacy and the joy he brought into our lives.
