It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of the renowned actor, Roger E. Mosley, who will forever be remembered for his iconic role on the hit television show, Magnum P.I.
Roger, aged 83, tragically lost his life after sustaining injuries in a car accident in Lynwood, California. His daughter, Ch-a, broke the heartbreaking news on social media, saying:
“Roger E. Mosley, my father, your friend, your ‘coach Mosley’ your ‘TC’ from Magnum P.I., passed away at 1:17 am.”
Surrounded by his loving family, Roger “transcended peacefully.” In her tribute, Ch-a expressed the desire to celebrate the incredible legacy he has left behind. She lovingly said, “We could never mourn such an amazing man. He would HATE any crying done in his name. It is time to celebrate the legacy he left for us all. I love you, daddy.”
Roger Mosley’s portrayal of Theodore “TC” Calvin on Magnum P.I. made him a beloved figure. Initially hesitant to take on the role, fearing it would hinder his film career, Roger’s agent convinced him otherwise. Little did he know that this opportunity would become a defining moment in his life:
“It’s starring this guy Tom Selleck. Tom Selleck has made about five pilot shows… and none of them have sold. So here’s what you do, Roger: Sign up for the show, go over to Hawaii, they’ll treat you good for the 20 days it will take to shoot the [pilot], you’ll get a lot of money, and then you come home. A show with Tom Selleck always fails, and you’ll be fine.”
The agent’s prediction couldn’t have been further from the truth. Roger’s chemistry with Tom Selleck and his exceptional talent captivated audiences worldwide. Magnum P.I. became a massive success, running from 1980 to 1988, and etching his name into television history.
Roger E. Mosley, you will be deeply missed, but your legacy will live on forever.
