With the current state of the economy, everyone is looking for ways to save money. In this regard, a viral Facebook post shared a genius plan to retire at a hotel instead of a nursing home. This plan, proposed by a man from Texas, has caught the attention of many, and he claims that it is actually cheaper to retire at a Holiday Inn.

Terry Robinson, from Spring, TX, made it clear that he has no intention of checking into a nursing home. Instead, he believes that a hotel like Holiday Inn offers better value for money. He mentioned perks such as breakfast, special TV movies, a spa, a swimming pool, and even free toiletries. And the best part? He calculated that he could enjoy all of these perks for just $59 a night, compared to the triple price of $188 a night at a nursing home.

Now, you might be thinking that this plan sounds a bit wild, but let’s consider the costs. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, households aged 65 or older spend an average of $45,756 per year, which is about $3,800 per month. That’s just $1,000 less than the average spent by all US households combined!

Of course, it’s important to note that nursing homes provide around-the-clock care, medical supervision, three meals a day, assistance with daily activities, and even rehabilitation services. However, Terry Robinson is not worried about the need for medical attention. He simply plans to ask the hotel desk to call an ambulance for him if necessary. Problem solved!

It’s worth mentioning that the idea of retiring at a Holiday Inn has been circulating on social media since 2004, and it even gained attention in 2016. Despite this, Holiday Inn welcomes Robinson with open arms and even adds a bonus perk to his list. They mention that kids eat for free at their hotels, which is another reason for his grandkids to come and visit.

So, while retiring at a hotel might be unconventional, Terry Robinson’s plan to retire at a Holiday Inn certainly sparks some interesting thoughts. It’s a creative way to cut costs and enjoy the perks that hotels have to offer. Perhaps this is a new trend for those looking to save money during their golden years!
