Last year in October (2021), Shannen started posting her breast cancer journey on her Instagram page. In honor of breast cancer awareness month, she decided to share her personal journey, including the not-so-pretty aspects. Shannen took the initiative to educate and create awareness about the reality of cancer.

Followers and non-followers alike are welcome to join in on Shannen Doherty’s cancer treatment journey. She shared an Instagram post announcing her first round of radiation treatment. However, before that, she showed the process of getting a mask fitted for CT scans during radiation to the brain. Shannen mentioned feeling claustrophobic and the emotional trauma she endured during this process.

On January 12, 2023, the first round of radiation took place. Shannen admitted her fear and claustrophobia while acknowledging the turmoil she was going through. She expressed her gratitude for her doctors and the amazing staff at Cedar Sinai. Shannen’s experience shed light on the emotional toll that cancer can take.

Afterward, Shannen Doherty bravely shared a video of herself pre-surgery, where she was going in for a tumor removal and biopsy. On January 16, 2023, she underwent the surgery. Shannen openly expressed her petrification and overwhelming fear. She had worries about potential bad outcomes and leaving her mom. She feared not being herself after the surgery. Through her vulnerability, Shannen revealed the harsh reality of what cancer can look like.
