Shannen Doherty, the iconic star of Beverly Hills 90210, has always been a symbol of resilience and bravery. Recently, she opened up about her ongoing fight against cancer, providing an update on her condition. Unfortunately, she also shared some devastating news – her stage four breast cancer has spread to her brain.

Despite beating cancer once before, Doherty was diagnosed again in February 2019. Since then, she has been documenting her journey and speaking openly about the challenges that come with living with cancer.

In a heartfelt video posted on her Instagram account, Doherty showed herself receiving treatment while tears filled her eyes. The caption read, “January 12, 2023”. Doherty explained that the video was taken during the process of getting fitted for a mask used during brain radiation treatment. She wrote, “My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life. But this is what cancer can look like.”

Prior to that, she shared a throwback video from January, showing herself getting fitted for a thermoplastic mask that covered her face and neck. On January 16, she documented her surgery to remove a tumor from her head and have it biopsied. In her social media posts, Doherty expressed her fears and worries, acknowledging the overwhelming emotional toll the battle against cancer can have on an individual.

Throughout her journey, Doherty has received an outpouring of support from her friends in the entertainment industry. Director Kevin Smith sent her a heartfelt message, calling her his “irreplaceable friend” and expressing his unwavering support. Selma Blair wished for “wise peace” to find Doherty amid her battle, while Sarah Michelle Gellar and other celebrities showed their solidarity.

In response to the overwhelming support, Doherty posted a series of photos from her friends and thanked them for their immense love and encouragement. She also referred to her mother as a “beacon of light” and expressed gratitude for her unwavering support.

Doherty’s battle with cancer hasn’t been easy. In 2015, she filed a lawsuit against her former manager for leaving her without health insurance, which caused a delay in her cancer diagnosis. Fortunately, she reached a settlement, ensuring that others won’t have to face a similar situation.
