Once upon a time, there was a man driving down a quiet highway. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of a sign that read, “Sisters of Mercy House of Prostitution 15 mi.” At first, he brushed it off as a trick of his imagination and continued on his journey without much thought.

But as he continued driving, he saw another sign, this time closer, announcing, “Sisters of Mercy House of Prostitution 8 mi.” The man began to realize that these signs were not just a figment of his imagination – they were real and caught his attention.

Intrigued, his curiosity got the best of him when he reached the third sign, which said, “Sisters of Mercy House of Prostitution Next Right.” Without hesitation, he turned into the driveway, eager to satisfy his curiosity.

At the end of the parking lot stood a solemn stone building adorned with a small sign that read, ‘Sisters of Mercy.’ He approached the entrance, climbed the steps, and rang the bell. To his surprise, a nun in a flowing black habit answered the door. She kindly asked, “What may we do for you, my son?”

Feeling a mix of nervousness and curiosity, the man replied, “I saw your signs along the highway and was interested in possibly doing business.” The nun nodded serenely and replied, “Very well, my son. Please follow me.”

He followed the nun through a maze of winding passages, which soon left him feeling disoriented. Eventually, they arrived at a closed door. The nun turned to him and said, “Please knock on this door.” Following her instructions, the man knocked on the door.

To his surprise, another nun appeared behind the door, clad in a long habit and holding a tin cup. The second nun said, “Please place $50 in the cup, then proceed through the large wooden door at the end of this hallway.”

Confused but eager to uncover what lay beyond, the man retrieved $50 from his wallet and placed it in the nun’s cup. With anticipation, he hurried down the hallway and entered through the large wooden door, pulling it shut behind him.

As the door locked shut, he found himself standing in the parking lot once again, facing a small sign that read, “Go in Peace. You Have Just Been Screwed by the Sisters of Mercy.”

And thus, the man learned a valuable lesson about curiosity and the unexpected twists of life. Sometimes, what appears to be an enticing opportunity can turn out to be quite different than anticipated.
