A mother’s worst nightmare came true when an armed intruder entered her Idaho home and attempted to kidnap her 4-year-old daughter. This terrifying incident serves as a reminder for all parents to remain vigilant, even when in the safety of their own home.
Last year in April, Kiana Mae Greener-Gibson was taking care of her newborn baby in one of the bedrooms while her older daughter played in the living room with their two pet dogs. The dogs suddenly started barking frantically, but Kiana thought nothing of it as they often alerted her to harmless visitors. Little did she know, a stranger had entered her property.
It wasn’t until Kiana received a text from her husband, who was away at the time, asking about the identity of a man he saw on their mobile CCTV footage that she realized something was terribly wrong. The footage revealed that not only had the man been lurking outside their home, but he had also entered through their front door.
Upon reviewing their security cameras, Kiana was horrified by what she saw. The exterior footage captured the man, armed with a large kitchen knife, acting suspiciously near the front door. The interior footage showed the man entering the house and picking up her daughter, causing the dogs to continue barking in an attempt to alert their owners. Thankfully, after a few seconds, the man put the toddler back down and left through the front door.

This heart-wrenching experience made Kiana realize the importance of taking extra precautions. She now keeps her doors locked at all times, even when she and her family are inside. The incident has shaken her belief that their small town of Burley was safe enough to leave doors unlocked. “Just never can be too careful anymore. I guess it’s just not to take it for granted and lock your doors from now on,” Kiana expressed.
The man responsible for this terrifying intrusion, Briayan Vergara Wednesday, has since been arrested on several charges including rape, kidnapping, and burglary. This serves as a stark reminder of the importance of staying vigilant and taking measures to protect our children.
As parents, it is our duty to ensure the safety of our children. Even within the confines of our own homes, we must remain cautious and proactive.
