It turns out that Dexter’s “mother” was actually his agent, and Lawson’s aunt, who was Dexter’s best friend, had never even met her. Dexter had been paid to be Lawson’s friend all along. This shocking revelation left Lawson feeling broken, with severe trust issues, and questioning whether he had ever experienced true friendship.
