Sports can be more than just a hobby or a way to stay fit. For Canaan Bower, a high school student from New Mexico, wrestling turned out to be a life-saving skill.

Canaan was a passionate member of his school’s wrestling team. Little did he know that his love for the sport would lead him to protect the lives of three small children. It was a situation that required immense courage and his expertise in wrestling, but he rose to the challenge.

One day, Canaan pulled his pickup truck into a gas station in New Mexico. From across the street, he heard something disturbing. Without hesitation, he felt compelled to go and offer assistance.

As he approached the gas station, he witnessed a chaotic scene. People were engaged in a fight, and it deeply troubled him. Canaan, driven by his instinct, jumped right into the middle of it.

Canaan’s father, Troy, shared that his son had recently won the wrestling district championship. With his remarkable skills, Canaan stealthily approached the troublemaker and swiftly brought him down with a powerful body slam and a chokehold. He held him until the police arrived.

But what Canaan didn’t know was that his intervention went beyond merely breaking up a fight. Unbeknownst to him, a mother had just gotten off a Greyhound bus with her three children, aged between nine and one.

As the mother was waiting for an Uber, a 22-year-old man drove by and forcibly attempted to take her children away. Bystanders tried to help, but it was Canaan’s arrival that truly turned things around.

According to his father, punches were thrown, and screams of terror filled the air. Canaan, determined to protect the innocent, quickly got into his truck and sped across the street. When he entered the gas station, he discovered blood on the floor.

Heroes come in all forms, and Canaan Bower is a hero who deserves to be remembered. His bravery, coupled with his wrestling skills, saved the lives of those three small children and brought justice to a chaotic situation.
