Dr. Mehmet Oz, the renowned television personality, is currently embroiled in a family feud with his sister over a matter that may seem trivial to some: a few thousand dollars a month. This dispute over rent money, stemming from their late father’s real estate properties in New York City, has escalated to the point where legal intervention is imminent.
Dr. Oz’s sister, Nazlim Oz, recently filed a complaint against her wealthy brother in Manhattan, claiming that he is withholding the money she is rightfully owed from their father’s Upper East Side apartment units. Their father, Mustafa Oz, purchased these properties in 1983 and unfortunately passed away in February 2019. It is now believed that the apartments are being leased to high-paying tenants, generating substantial rental income. Nazlim believes she should receive $15,000 per month, representing her share of these payments. However, Dr. Oz is adamant that she is the one causing the conflict.
Interestingly, Dr. Oz has managed to gain control over the limited liability company responsible for managing both properties. Utilizing his power, he has effectively excluded his sister from the arrangement and kept all the money for himself, notwithstanding his significant wealth accumulated through his television and Hollywood endeavors.
Nazlim’s legal claim accuses Dr. Oz of breaching his duties as the company manager. By abusing his authority, he has prevented her from receiving the payments that their father intended her to have. However, a spokesperson for Dr. Oz has stated that the payments were halted due to a larger lawsuit concerning other members of the Oz family and the distribution of Mustafa’s estate. It appears that additional relatives of Dr. Oz are also seeking a greater portion of the inheritance, diverting attention away from the television host’s riches.
Reports suggest that lawsuits have been brought forth in both the United States and Turkey, where Nazlim presently resides.
Dr. Oz’s representative informed the Daily Mail that the Oz family, including Dr. Oz’s mother, is suing Nazlim over their late father’s estate, including the New York City properties. Dr. Oz emphasized that although he does not own or desire these properties, his father legally appointed him as the manager of the company. Consequently, he is obligated to hold all the income in escrow until the courts in both countries have resolved the ongoing litigation.
Mustafa Oz, Dr. Oz’s father, was born in Turkey and immigrated to the United States in 1955. Through hard work and dedication, he became a highly esteemed physician. Dr. Oz, the oldest of Mustafa’s three children, developed a passion for medicine while witnessing his father performing intricate procedures on seriously ill patients who later expressed gratitude for saving their lives. Last year, when Mustafa passed away at the age of 93, Dr. Oz paid an emotional tribute to him on social media.
Despite Dr. Oz’s staggering net worth of approximately $100 million, he appears to be denying his sister a few thousand dollars each month.
