Imagine facing a world that constantly tries to define you by your physical appearance. For Supatra, a Bangkok-born teenager, this has been her reality. Afflicted with Ambras Syndrome, a rare condition caused by a defective gene, Supatra’s excessive hair has earned her the nickname “Chewbacca” in the real world. But despite the negativity and hurtful comments, she remains brave and resilient.

Ambras Syndrome, a condition documented in only fifty cases since the Middle Ages, has made Supatra one of the few known individuals in the world who bear its effects. At the age of eleven, she broke the Guinness World Record for having the most hair of any girl. While she still lives with this condition, Supatra has found love and happiness in her life. Her supportive husband plays a significant role, and she speaks tenderly about their relationship.

Supatra’s journey has not been easy. Before the understanding of Ambras Syndrome, individuals like her were unfairly labeled as “werewolves.” Despite being called “Wolf Girl,” Supatra remains grateful for her life and finds joy in every moment. During the Guinness World Records ceremony in 2010, she expressed that she doesn’t feel any different from anyone else and has many friends at school. In fact, she believes that her hairiness makes her special. Becoming the hairiest girl in the world was an exhilarating experience for her.

Marco Frigatti, an on-screen judge at the competition, was captivated by Supatra’s presence. He described her as a remarkable and proud individual who desires to be treated like everyone else. Marco believes that it is society, not Supatra, that has the problem in treating her differently.

Despite the challenges she faced from an early age, including undergoing two operations at birth, Supatra has never lost her cheerful and hopeful spirit. She continues to pursue her education, with a particular passion for mathematics. Her ambition is to become a doctor, driven by her desire to help and treat others.

Growing up, Supatra had to navigate a society filled with racist prejudices that made it difficult for her to make friends and be accepted. However, her perseverance paid off as her community began to embrace and support her. Supatra’s story serves as a powerful reminder that sad stories do not define a person’s entire journey. She is not only overcoming challenges but also starting a new chapter filled with love and acceptance.
