But Brady’s response was quick and firm – “I am NOT coming out of retirement.” He acknowledged Mr. Beast’s clever idea but made it clear that his decision was primarily driven by his family. Even Jim Gray, Brady’s co-host, tried to convince him otherwise, but Brady stuck to his guns. He even quipped, “My parents and my kids would call. They would kill me. I wouldn’t be around by tonight.”
For those who need a little context, Brady initially retired from the NFL on February 1, 2022, after an impressive 22-year career. However, that retirement only lasted 40 days before he unretired and returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2022 season. He retired “for good” in the 2023 offseason, on February 1, 2023.
“As I said, you’re only allowed one un-retirement. And I’ve used it up,” Brady responded when Jim Gray suggested a different idea to boost ratings. “So at this point, I’m just looking forward to being in more of your videos because my kids don’t think I’m s–t,” Brady added playfully to Mr. Beast.
Brady acknowledged Mr. Beast’s influence on the younger community and how his three children – John ‘Jack’ Edward Thomas, Benjamin Rein, and Vivian Lake – are more likely to listen to Mr. Beast than their own father. “Jimmy’s the one that’s got their attention. So if he tells them to do something, he’s got a lot more influence than I do. So I’m actually trying to stay on their good side,” Brady said, hinting at a potential collaboration between himself and Mr. Beast in the future.
