In a devastating incident, a father in Arizona has committed a murder-suicide, taking the lives of his two young children and himself. Brock Mater, 34, his son, aged seven, and his daughter, aged six, were tragically found shot dead in their home in Surprise, a Phoenix suburb, last Monday.

According to reports, Mater had been undergoing mental health treatment before the incident. The murder weapon, a rifle, was found placed across the father’s lap. The children’s mother, Hope Mater, became concerned when the school notified her that the children did not show up. After multiple attempts to make contact with no response, she discovered Mater’s car in the driveway and immediately contacted the police.

The couple had been going through a divorce, and the children had been visiting their father over the weekend. Mater’s sister, Larissa Mater, made a heartfelt plea on social media, asking for prayers for her family during this difficult time.

Hope had filed a protective order against her estranged husband last fall, providing evidence of his abusive behavior and claims that he had threatened to take his own life after she asked for a divorce. She also mentioned that Mater owned guns and requested that he be prohibited from possessing firearms.

Hope further expressed her concerns about Mater’s mental state, mentioning his references to demons and cults, as well as his heightened agitation and fearfulness. A week after she filed the petition, Mater took the children out of school without notifying their mother, driving them to a hotel. He later made a call to the police, indicating that he was both suicidal and homicidal. As a result, Mater was placed under psychiatric care at a hospital.
