Woman Is Going To Jail For A Long Time After What She Tried To Buy At Walmart

Rebecca Lanette Taylor, a 49-year-old Texas woman, walked into her local Walmart in Crockett with an unusual shopping list – she wanted to buy a baby. Although Walmart doesn’t sell babies on its shelves, Taylor approached a mother with her child and offered to pay cash for her baby.

While the mother was at the self-checkout counter, Taylor persisted in trying to make the purchase. She complimented the baby’s features and even went as far as offering $250,000 to obtain the child. When the mother laughed it off as a joke, Taylor became more insistent and revealed that she had $250,000 in her car for the transaction.

Despite the mother’s resistance, Taylor continued to push for the purchase. Frustrated, the mother finally ordered Taylor to back away from her child. However, Taylor’s determination to acquire a baby didn’t waver. When the mother and her children left the Walmart, Taylor was waiting for them in the parking lot. She yelled at the mother and offered an outrageous amount of $500,000 for her blonde-haired, blue-eyed baby, declaring that she was determined to take the child.

Realizing that Taylor had crossed a line, the mother immediately contacted the police and reported the attempted baby purchase. On January 18, 2022, Taylor was arrested and charged with the sale or purchase of a child, a third-degree felony in Texas. If convicted, she could face up to ten years in a Texas corrections facility and a fine of up to $10,000. Taylor posted a $50,000 bond and was released from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities believe that this may not be the first time Taylor has attempted to buy a baby from its parents, as they are investigating two other similar reports. However, no charges have been filed in those cases yet.

This shocking and disturbing incident could have had a much different outcome if the mother had agreed to sell her child. Thankfully, she was able to escape the situation and report it to law enforcement. It serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and protecting the well-being of our children.
