Jocelyn, a successful 29-year-old woman from Ontario, Canada, joined the dating app Bumble in hopes of connecting with single men. She came across a “cute” 29-year-old named Myles who lived nearby, and they quickly hit it off. However, Jocelyn’s detective instincts kicked in, and she decided to do some additional research to ensure Myles was who he claimed to be.

After chatting on the app, they exchanged phone numbers and began texting. But something felt off to Jocelyn. Despite her messages appearing in blue as an iPhone user, Myles’ messages appeared in green, indicating he was using an Android device. This detail made her question his authenticity.

Her suspicions deepened when she remembered a detail from Myles’ dating profile – a photo of him wearing an Apple Watch. This raised a red flag for Jocelyn because most Apple Watch owners also have iPhones for added connectivity.

In a now-viral TikTok video, Jocelyn shared her experience. She narrated, “Welcome back to another episode of ‘Could dating be any more fun?’ I don’t share too much personal information with him. I’ve talked to people for too long on the app before, so this time I decided not to do that. He suggested that we should have dinner sometime, and I thought, ‘Great!’ I wanted to meet in person and see if we clicked. I agreed to dinner, and he mentioned sometime during the week. I said that sounded good and gave him my number, telling him to text me with the details. He texted me pretty quickly, saying, ‘Hey, it’s so-and-so.’”

Seeing Myles’ text appear in green only intensified Jocelyn’s suspicions. After all, he had an Apple Watch in one of his photos, which led her to believe he should be an iPhone user.

She continued, “So I decided to do a reverse image search on some of the pictures from his profile, and what do I find? An Instagram model from New York!” Through this search, Jocelyn discovered a profile belonging to a man named Ron from Brooklyn. It was clear that the person she matched with was pretending to be someone named Myles, using pictures of Ron as their own. Jocelyn, relieved that she hadn’t invested much time or shared personal details, hadn’t yet confronted the catfisher.

Luckily, Jocelyn was able to uncover the truth and protect herself from any harm.
