Megan Meza, a woman in her late 40s, had an unexpected encounter that changed her life forever. It all started on a layover flight from Los Angeles to London in April 2022. As Megan settled into her window seat, she noticed a cute man entering her row. Little did she know that striking up a conversation with him would lead to something truly special.
“I was like, ‘Hey, I’ve dropped my AirPods before. You should wait. When the plane takes off, everything will roll behind us,’” Megan recalls, sharing how she initiated the conversation. As the plane took off, Megan and the man, whose name turned out to be Freddie, talked about their families, friendships, and lives. “I was like, this is someone that I actually really enjoy spending time with,” Megan reflects. “He checks all the boxes, he’s kind, he’s funny, he’s gracious, he’s charming, he takes care of his people, he’s got great friends, great family.”
Despite the challenges of long distance, Megan and Freddie made it work. They traveled back and forth between London and L.A., cherishing the moments they had together. And finally, after two years, Freddie got down on one knee and proposed to Megan on May 21.
Their love story, which Megan shared on TikTok, quickly went viral with 7 million views. Reflecting on that fateful conversation on the plane, Megan never imagined that it would lead to such a beautiful outcome. “I saw a man who I thought was very cute, and I used that as an opportunity to have this ‘yes’ moment on a plane where it’s like, I’m never going to see him again. What do I have to lose?” she says.
